Q: What can I do if I am using an estate agent already? A: You can advertise your property privately at the same time. As long as the buyer is not introduced to you by the agent, you will not be charged commission. This is true even if you have a 'sole agency' agreement rather than a 'Multiple agency' one. For further information and reassurance, please see this guide from the office of fair trading. The only unlikely exception to this is if you have signed a 'sole selling' agreement (different from 'sole agency').
Q: Should I advertise privately as well as use an agent? A: Doing both will almost certainly increase your exposure so you may increase your chances of getting the right offer sooner. There's no harm in doing - the additional cost of using NOMOREAGENTS is nominal compared to the commission the agent will charge.
